A beautiful road trip to Tagaytay City, Philippines

Tagaytay City

Tagaytay is one of the most popular town in the Philippines where people love to spend time together. It is a tourist spot destination for local and foreign visitors. It has a good climate and ambiance that most people prefer to visit during holiday season or whenever they have free time. The overlooking Taal volcano island (an active volcano) and the Taal lake that are located in the province of Batangas is an iconic view of nature that is a must-see in this place.

Tagaytay City is in the province of Cavite, Philippines. It is considered as one of the country’s popular tourist destination due to its cool climate during the fourth quarter of the year.

According to history, the word Tagaytay came from “TAGA” it means to cut and “ITAY” which means father. Derived from the story of a father and son who were on a wild boar chase when the animal they were pursuing suddenly turned and attacked them. It’s a defense mechanism to combat the action of the wild boar.

The green view of nature and the peaceful environment is really an eye catching. It’s a beautiful place to take some selfies or group photos. It’s indeed a comfortable place to stay if you want to relax, enjoy and smell some fresh air.

In the afternoon the environment is already foggy, and you can feel a cool and windy surroundings, it’s the month of December, so you can expect some coldness in this place.

You can also see churches around, as most people here are Roman Catholics.

There are also a lot of deliciously made products here that you can buy and eat while on the road, just like the following:

Buko pie

It is a kind of baked product that was made from coconut fruit added with milk and other creamy mixture inside.

Macapuno

It is a kind of candy like food that is made from coconut sport and sugar, it was shaped into a bite sized pieces that you can enjoy as finger food.

Banana chips

It is a sun-dried banana slices that was added with sugar.

You can also buy sweet dried anchovies, pastillas and fruit candies like tamarind and ube.

There are also nuts, dried mango fruits, dried corn kernels, ready-made shrimp fritters, chicharrón, pure honey etc.

This was really a well-spent day for our family, though we didn’t explore much due to the pandemic, still we enjoyed. It’s a place that our family will visit again and surely will share some of the most beautiful places and delicious foods that you can explore in Tagaytay.
