Tilapia is a fast-growing and lean fish. Living mainly in freshwater like shallow streams, ponds (natural or man-made), rivers and lakes. This kind of fish is unable to survive in cool water below 70’c.
As food, it has a firm texture and a mild flavor that makes it an ideal fish to include in various cooking methods like frying, broiling, baking, grilling, braising and even in soup-based recipes. It can easily absorb the flavor of spices like marinades, sauces, and seasonings. A 6 ounce fillet only has about 125 calories and 1 gram fat.
